8th International Conference on the Application of Physical Modelling in Coastal and Port Engineering and Science (CoastLab2020) has successfully held during the 9th-12th of December, 2020 in Zhoushan, China.
Coastlab2020 will build on the successes of previous conferences held in Porto (2006), Bari (2008), Barcelona (2010), Ghent (2012), Varna (2014), Ottawa (2016) and Santander (2018). It will provide a stimulating and enriching forum to discuss the latest developments in physical modelling applied to coastal engineering and new trends in coastal sciences.
CoastLab2020 is organized under the auspices of the International Association of Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research (IAHR). It will be jointly hosted by Zhejiang University, Dalian University of Technology, Sichuan University and Zhejiang Ocean University. As the chairmen, Prof. Dezhi Ning, Prof. Pengzhi Lin and Prof. Zhiguo He host the conference and gave a warm welcome to all expertise around the world.
The director of the Stake Key Laboratory of Coastal and Offshore Engineering, Prof. Liang Cheng gave a keynote in the opening ceremony, after talks by the president of IAHR, Prof. Joseph H.W. Lee and Vice president of Zhejiang University, Prof. Lizhong Wang. Prof. Philip L.-F. Liu of National University of Singapore, Prof. James T. Kirby of University of Delware, Prof. Xiping Yu of Tsinghua University, Prof. Marcel Stive of Delft University of Technology and Prof. Peter Stansby of University of Manchester also gave keynotes during the ceremony.
Coastlab2020 covered 12 sessions during the 9th-12th of December. More than 120 online and on-site presentations were held. A total of more than 400 join the activity around 56 countries with more than 300 conference manuscript received including more than 240 experts were presented on site. A total of more than 11,000 participants joined the event through website. 22 members from SLCOE of DUT joined the conference, led by Prof. Dezhi Ning. Mr. Hangfei Liu (supervised by Prof. Yunpeng Zhao) and Dr. Fan Yang in the Stake Key Laboratory of Coastal and Offshore Engineering were awarded as the Best Presentation Award and the Best Paper Award respectively in the closing ceremony.
